David
Yoshiaki Ko
David Yoshiaki Ko, age 16, currently studies at the
Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria with Professor
Karl-Heinz Kämmerling. Until spring 2008, he was a scholarship
student in the Preparatory Division of the San Francisco Conservatory
of Music, studying piano with Ms. Helen Wong and composition with Mr.
Jonathan Russell.
David has won many prizes in both international and local competitions:
1st Prize at the 2008 Pacific Musical Society Competition, 1st Prize at
the 2008 Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition, 1st Prize at the 2007 Young
Pianists’ Beethoven Competition, and 1st Prize at the 2006
Schimmel USASU International Junior Piano Competition.
David received annual scholarships from the Chopin Foundation of the
United States in 2007 and 2008, and has participated in numerous master
classes with masters such as Mr. John Perry and Mr. Dan Zhao Yi. David
gave his first public recital at age 11, and has been a frequent
performer in concerts both local and overseas, performing with the
Peninsula Symphony in February 2008 and also in Braunschweig, Germany
in the Braunschweig Classix Festival in May 2007.
